Millville is hosting a citywide Scavenger Hunt! Starting at National Night Out on August 6 and ending at Third Friday on August 16 at 8 p.m., you can pick up your Scavenger Hunt “Clue Sheets,” which are also your entry form.
The city’s Recreation Volunteer Committee and the Glasstown Arts District have put together a hunt to find 19 Clues in 19 locations.
Samantha Cruz, manager of Parks and Public Properties for the City of Millville says, “We want to offer a fun family event that showcases many of our terrific businesses and tourism sites throughout Millville.”
People wanting to participate can pick up the Clue Sheets–Entry Forms to get started at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts, 22 N. High Street. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday hours are 12 noon until 6 p.m. and Sunday 12 noon till 5 p.m. They were also available at National Night Out.
The front side of the sheet has “clue pictures” with numbers on them. The backside has instructions, hours of operation of the locations, and hints to help you find the clues at the sites.
“The game is challenging,” Cruz remarks. “As you start to solve the puzzle, it will get easier until you complete the entire page.”
Players will have until Third Friday evening (August 16) to finish the hunt. You may turn them in at the Riverfront Renaissance Center, 22 N. High Street whenever you have finished. Even if you can’t find one or two, turn in the form. Don’t forget to put your name, phone number and/or e-mail on the page.
The winner will receive a basket of prizes that will include gift certificates and items from the participating businesses. In case of one or more ties, the entries will be placed in a basket and the winning one will be drawn between 8 and 8:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts. You do not have to be present to win.
The Recreation Volunteer Committee was established in 2018. City Commissioner Bruce Cooper and Samantha Cruz lead the volunteer meetings where the group of volunteers discusses project and event ideas that include residents of our community.
Programs that have been organized for over a year include Neighborhood Clean Up Days, Community Mural at the entrance to the Maurice River Park and bridge, 2018 Ghost Tour and continuous support of the Millville Recreation Department.
When the Scavenger Hunt concludes, the committee will launch the 2019 Ghost Tour–Solve the Murder Mystery with Clues! This will also have Halloween Costume Contests for adults and kids, psychics, live music, spooky games on the Plaza, a fire pit, refreshments and more!
If you are interested in being a part of the Recreation Volunteer Committee (RVC), contact Cruz at 856-825-7000, ext. 7394. You can look at the group’s Facebook page to see the programs run @Millville’s Recreation and Volunteer Committee #RVC.
