More Millville Eats

As promised in my last column, today I will feature the remaining Arts District restaurants and eateries. Please keep in mind that shopping and dining locally impacts the local economy and betters the lives of owners, employees and community members. Additionally, visitors from nearby and a distance are more likely to return because they enjoyed a unique experience.

Let’s start with the iconic Jim’s Lunch at 105 E. Main Street. It’s a landmark, a tradition and must-try adventure for the first-time visitor. You will find multiple generations of the family working together to give hometown flavor to the burgers and wieners, breakfast platters, and daily dinner specials. Locals that frequent Jim’s are multi-generational, bringing families and friends together during the “open season!” The restaurant is open the week after Columbus Day through Memorial Day each year, six days a week from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Wildflower Vegan Café recently completed its third expansion. Located in the Village on High, 501 N. High Street, the restaurant features lunch and dinner specials daily. It caters to vegetarians and vegans yet offers great choices to people who are not plant-only consumers. From delicious salads, soups and burritos to smoothies and desserts, you’ll find yourself returning often.

Manny’s Pizza, 426 N. High Street, has been operating for 20 years and offers a great variety of pizzas. You’ll find many other Italian favorites, from sandwiches and salads to platters. Manny’s is open for lunch and dinner every day.

Bruni’s Breakfast and Burgers is at 432 N. High Street (the former Torelli’s Burgers location). The owner-chef has created many burger sauce and topping specialties along with fries and old-fashioned milkshakes. The breakfast sandwiches are unique and delicious. Bruni’s is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Sunday till 1 p.m.)

BJ Roasters, 231 N. High Street, is another mainstay eatery in the downtown. Specializing in wings, the good food doesn’t end there. It’s open from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Friday to 8 p.m.) Try their homemade soups, lunch and dinner platters and wide variety of sandwiches. Are you hosting a sports-event party? Order your wings early!

Millville Queen Diner, 109 E. Broad Street is open daily serving breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the day. New Jersey is the birthplace of diners and the Queen features all your favorites. You’ll be greeted at the door by the owner or friendly staff. The tempting dessert display case rotates slowly as you pass by and say hello to neighbors and friends.

Paradise Pizza and Restaurant, 2 E. Main Street, is just steps away from the Maurice River and Captain Buck Park. After a stroll on the Riverwalk or a cruise with Captain Dave, enjoy a pizza or sandwich at this convenient location.

Pilar Restaurant, 201 N. High Street, is mostly a take-out eatery specializing in roast pork. Many say the pork, rice and beans, pastelillos and many more Latino specialties are the best you will find. It is open daily for lunch and dinner.

Two long-time Chinese restaurants are great options for your lunch or dinner appetites. Great Wall of China, 500 N. High Street and China Wok, 301 N. High, offer traditional Chinese menus. Both offer friendly service.

Luigi’s Pizza, 201 E. Main Street, serves traditional pizza and sandwiches. It is open daily from 11 a.m. and is mostly a take-out shop. The building is one of the oldest in the city.
