Walmart Remodel Celebrated at Reopening Ceremony
Vineland Walmart Supercenter completed a five-month remodeling project with major changes to the building and its contents. A reopening ceremony marking the new changes took place at the store recently.
“This store is about more than shopping,” Marketing Director Jonathan Hernandez told the media. “Walmart has always believed in being a strong community partner. Through investments like this, we’re not only enhancing the shopping experience, but we’re also supporting the associates and strengthening our opportunities.”
Entertainment and events included giveaways and free samples and character visits from Nestle Quik Bunny, Toucan Sam, Cheerios Honey Bee, and Herr’s Chipper.
The remodel included a 5,000-square-foot addition, and an extra parking area.Hernandez said the addition and parking are to handle increased demand from people who want to pick up their orders or have them delivered, a change in buyer behavior that every retailer is adapting to in recent years.
“We just want to be able to take care of customers,” Hernandez said.
The improvements also include replacing and adding refrigeration capacity and even redesigning the staff lounge. Those don’t jump out to customers, not like the expanded fresh food area and additions of different clothing lines.
The fresh food assortment has been elevated, as well as fashion. Hernandez said the fashion is now different and doesn’t match other stores in the area.
At the reopening celebration, employees with many years of service were recognized. They included Michael Johnson, 33 years; Personnel Director Dawn Berry, 31 years; Jana Wilkie, 30 years; Barbara Cliff, 29 years; and Tina Falasca, 28 years. Representatives from several area charitable organizations also were presented with checks for $1,000 or more.
