The City of Vineland is making plans for a Green Fair to be held on Saturday, June 4 (rain date, June 5) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Vineland High School South Campus located at 2880 E. Chestnut Avenue. The free event is presented by the Vineland Green Team in partnership with the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce. Funding for the event is provided in part by a PSEG Sustainable Jersey Grant.
“We are planning the Green Fair as an educational event that will feature exhibits, local vendors, and demonstrations that promote sustainable living in every aspect of one’s life,” said Vineland Green Team Chairperson Diane Amico. “Visitors can take a tour of a butterfly garden; visit the Farmers’ Market; and get information on topics like ecology, nature, gardening, stormwater, green infrastructure, rain gardens; and how pollinators like bees, birds, and butterflies help flowering plants reproduce. In addition, there will be craft vendors; healthy cooking demonstrations; blood pressure screenings by the Vineland Health Department; electric vehicles; and products like local honey and food. There will be music. There will also be free soil testing by the USDA for residents and farmers. There will be more information on this to come.
“Our goal is to show attendees that there are many ways, both big and small, to go green and to live a more sustainable lifestyle,” Amico continued. “Working together as members of one community, we can make a difference and become more sustainable now and for future generations.”
Fair organizers are inviting exhibitors and vendors interested in participating to register at vinelandchamber.org/events/details, or to contact Vineland Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dawn Hunter at 856-691-7400.
