Two Tasty Events

by Russell Swanson, Exec. Dir., VDID, Main Street Vineland

Get your tastebuds ready as A Taste of Vineland is coming back this year! Yes, after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID situation we’re bringing back our annual celebration of Vineland’s array of restaurants—A Taste of Vineland & Volunteer Recognition Event—on Wednesday, October 27 from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Greenview Inn at Eastlyn Golf Course, 4049 Italia Avenue, Vineland. We will abide by whatever safety precautions are in effect, but we’re happy to bring this event back.

I’m sure after all this time of eating at home, getting takeout, and eating distanced outdoors, you’re ready for some good food with great indoor ambiance. Details need to be worked out and finalized, but I’m giving you the heads up—so mark the date.

The event brings together many of Vineland’s finest restaurants as they offer samples of their signature dishes—main courses, appetizers, and desserts—as well as a fabulous silent auction and much more.

The price you pay for a ticket is a fraction of what you’d pay to eat at each of these restaurants individually. What’s more, proceeds will go toward downtown beautification, business recruitment and development, and events.

Sponsorship opportunities are available as well as ad space in the program book. A limited number of spaces will also be available for restaurants that wish to participate.

We’ll also be recognizing our Main Street Vineland volunteers who have contributed greatly to the work of our organization, as well as a “Community Partner” and a “Media Partner” who have worked with us on our projects and initiatives. Watch for more information.

Don’t forget about the call-out for prospective entertainers for our third Food Truck Festival on The Ave, coming up on Sunday, August 22, rain or shine, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Landis Avenue and the Boulevard. We’re planning for opening-to-closing entertainment as part of the wall-to-wall fun. DJ Zach Reed is already on board as entertainment host. If you’ve got the talent we’re looking for, or know someone who has, contact Main Street Vineland Associate Director Robert Scarpa at rscarpa@vinelandcity.org. Even better, send an audio or video clip—YouTube or some other platform. There will also be plenty of food trucks, so nobody will leave hungry. Members 1st of NJ Federal Credit Union is the major sponsor and Newfield National Bank is Entertainment Sponsor.

You can still register for our Third Annual Running The Ave 5K this Sunday, June 27. Held in cooperation with Second Capital Running and with major sponsorship by Lidl, it’ll be held rain or shine, starting at 9 a.m., right on downtown Landis Avenue. Special awards will go to the fastest runner from Vineland and a True Grit Award for the last-place finisher. Team challenges will take place for the fastest family and fastest business. Social distancing measures will be in place. Over the past two years we’ve had runners from throughout the Delaware Valley participate. Be one of them by going to Main Street Vineland’s website—theave.biz—and sign up.
