One of Cumberland County’s best events, Winter Eagle Festival, will be back in full swing on Saturday, February 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at Mauricetown Firehall, 9544 Noble Street, and of course, outdoor viewing areas. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
At the firehall there will be speakers and presentations about ecology, environment, and wildlife. Non-profit and commercial exhibitors will fill the garage area. There will be favorite refreshments available to purchase. Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge will delight attendees with “live” exhibits. Fun hands-on craft activities, especially for the kids, will be available by the Clay College.
There will be five staffed viewing sites with scopes and birdwatching experts along the Delaware Bay area. Bayshore Center at Bivalve will offer walks. There will be food and other activities. Additionally, there will be morning and evening owl watches and guided trail walks; the East Point Lighthouse will be open.
This event is a real treat whether you have visited in prior years or if this will be your first time. Don’t miss your chance to observe bald eagles, owls, and much more! Questions? Call 856-453-2175. ***
The first production of the “Broadway Season” from the Off Broad Street Players begins on February 10 at 8 p.m. at the Levoy Theatre, 126-130 N. High Street, Millville. There will also be shows on February 11 and 12 and from February 6 through 19. Tickets are $20-$25. The play is Sweeney Todd, which is an infamous tale of an unjustly exiled barber of the 19th century who returns to London. Todd is seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up. The carnage has only begun!
If this sounds intriguing, check out the entire Broadway season at www.Levoy.net. Future shows for 2023 include The Little Mermaid, The Wedding Singer, Puffs, and The Sound of Music. You can save money if you buy the five-show package for $75 while they last!
