Optum To Close Medical Offices at End of Month
Optum, a health provider owned by UnitedHealth, is abruptly closing nearly 90 medical offices across New Jersey by the end of November, impacting a wide range of services, including primary and pediatric care, mental health, and specialty services.
At press time, according to the Optum location page and other media outlets, it appears the two Vineland Optum Urgent Care centers—at 3403 S. Delsea Drive and 301 S. Main Road—will remain open.
Most of the closures will take place this week. In addition to impacting primary, pediatric and mental health care, the closures will impact services like dermatology, endocrinology, pulmonology, cardiology, rheumatology, podiatry, and orthopedics.
All four of Optum’s primary care offices in southern New Jersey will close. They are in Cherry Hill, Medford, Mount Ephraim, and Runnemede.
The company said these closures are due to a review of services to meet evolving market dynamics and will result in the layoff of approximately 572 employees, according to the state Department of Labor.
