K.D. National Force Security Celebrates 10 Years of School Security

K.D. National Force Security (KDNFS), provider of professional security services and training programs for the private and public sectors in southern New Jersey, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, according to its founder and Chief Executive Officer Kevin J. DiPatri.

DiPatri founded KDNFS in January 2013 after he retired from the N.J. State Police (NJSP) as a Captain following a 25-year career with the agency. Later that year, James Mullins, who retired from the NJSP as a Lieutenant after a 25-year career, joined the KDNFS management team as the chief operating officer.

In our area, KDNFS provides security services for schools in Millville, Commercial Township, Hopewell Township, and for Cumberland Regional and Cumberland Christian schools.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Business Employment Dynamics, only about 30 percent, or less than a third, of small businesses make it to their 10-year anniversary. Not only has KDNFS survived for a decade in business, but the firm has thrived, going from four employees in 2013 to more than 130 today.

“KDNFS was founded just weeks after the deadliest elementary school shooting in our country’s history took place in Newtown, CT, so Jim and I came into this with a mutual commitment to safeguarding lives and creating and maintaining safe educational environments for all,” recalls DiPatri. “Since then, KDNFS has created the highest standard for school security in New Jersey. That exacting standard applies to our other public-and private-sector clients as well.”

During their tenure with the NJSP, both DiPatri and Mullins forged professional relationships and partnerships with government agencies at the local, county, state, and federal levels, and other public- and private-sector entities, including institutions of higher learning, public and private school districts, health systems, and hospitals.

KDNFS hires only state-certified security professionals who have at least 20 years of law enforcement experience, and who have served in a supervisory role in law enforcement. All security personnel must pass semi-annual firearms qualification and annual Active Shooter/All Hazards Crisis Response firearms training, in addition to specialized training to resolve conflicts and mitigate hostile and disruptive behaviors.
