Devils Place Cody Glass on IR, Recall Ethan Edwards from AHL
The New Jersey Devils announced Monday, November 17, 2025, that forward Cody Glass has been placed on the injured reserve list. According to the team, the decision is retroactive to November 12, 2025, and is connected to an upper-body injury. Earlier reports described that Glass had been injured last Wednesday against the Chicago Blackhawks after losing his balance on the forecheck and colliding into the end boards during a 4-3 overtime win. He left the ice immediately and went straight to the locker room.

Before the injury, Glass had appeared in six games with two goals. Later updates reflected his full season total to that point — 10 games played with three goals and no assists, averaging just under 12 minutes of ice time per game. This is his second stint on injured reserve this season, as he previously missed seven games with an upper-body injury before returning on November 6 against the Montreal Canadiens.
The club confirmed the move publicly on its Twitter/X account, stating, “We have placed F Cody Glass (upper body) on injured reserve, retro to 11/12/25. We have recalled D Ethan Edwards from Utica (AHL). He will join the club for today’s practice.”

The timing of the move coincided with adjustments in betting odds surrounding the Devils. Sportsbooks shifted New Jersey into underdog pricing for recent and upcoming road games, posting moneylines between +125 and +150 once Glass and Jack Hughes were confirmed out. Futures odds also moved from early-season Stanley Cup pricing of +700 to longer numbers at several books, and Hughes’ MVP odds drifted after the announcement of his absence. These changes mirrored the injuries reported by the team and did not extend beyond those specific roster updates.
New Jersey had been carrying only six defensemen on its active roster, and the team recalled defenseman Ethan Edwards from the Utica Comets of the AHL to restore depth. Edwards, 23, has one goal and five points in 13 games with Utica this season. Additional reports list his totals as one goal and four assists over the same 13-game span. He was selected by the Devils in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Draft and appeared in 10 games for Utica at the end of last season, recording three assists after completing a four-year career with the University of Michigan.
The Devils were already without forward Connor Brown, and defenseman Dougie Hamilton left the game early in the second period against the Canadiens. The team is also without Jack Hughes, who has been sidelined for approximately eight weeks after undergoing finger surgery. The injury was described as non-hockey related and occurred during a team dinner.
Glass joined New Jersey last season after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins at the trade deadline. The trade brought Glass and forward Jonathan Gruden to the Devils in exchange for forward Chase Stillman, prospect Max Graham, and a third-round pick. Glass, 26, was the first draft pick in Vegas Golden Knights history, selected sixth overall in 2017. His junior career included a 2017–18 season with the Portland Winterhawks, in which he recorded 37 goals and 65 assists for 102 points in 64 games.
