Continuity is Good

by Russell Swanson, Exec. Dir., VDID, Main Street Vineland

It is said that an object of good, strong leadership is to surround yourself with good, strong associates who can assist and advise. That is as true with Main Street Vineland as with any other organization.

We nominated and elected at this week’s Board meeting a team of officers who have served the goals and mission of Main Street Vineland over the past few terms—Brian Lankin as chair, Dennis Ingraldi as vice-chair, and Reginald Johnston as corresponding secretary/treasurer. Paul Spinelli will remain as our City Council liaison and the other Board members—Edgar Calderon, Macleod Carré, Lizzy Kennedy, Hernando Perez, and Caleb Soto—will also remain.

The watchword for this is continuity. I’m indeed lucky and privileged to have a strong Board of Directors at my side. They represent experience—not only with Main Street Vineland, but with the welfare of our downtown—The Ave—and of Vineland in general. They’re individuals who serve as businesspeople and leaders in the community. They know the needs of our downtown merchants and I welcome and respect their advice and counsel.

As we move into a new year, we will work together to meet the challenges ahead, not the least of which is moving forward while the COVID situation is brought under control. Many new initiatives are underway and we’ll be charging ahead to take them on.

Meanwhile, our Organization, Design, Promotions, and Economic Vitality Teams are meeting this month and planning in more detail events and initiatives for the year. More about that will come. As I’ve said before, stay tuned.

I want to say how lucky and thankful we are to have a COVID vaccination clinic right on The Ave, which will also provide COVID testing. It’s operating through the Vineland Health Department and located in the former Landis MarketPlace building, at 631 E. Landis Avenue. It’s handy, well-organized and there for you.

You can get more information by contacting the Health Department at 856)-794-4131.
