The Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society (VHAS) will host its monthly Open House on Sunday, June 9 from 1 to 4 p.m., at the museum located at 108 South Seventh Street in Vineland.
“Many people and events, which affected national history, occurred in Vineland, and we encourage everyone to learn about them,” said Warren Crescenzo, vice-president of the trustees.
New gardens are recent additions to the museum grounds. The rain garden uses land contours and the museum’s rain drainage system to provide a natural form of irrigation. The bog garden contains a variety of plantings common to swampy areas, along with carnivorous plants. A community garden and a device to draw insects, will enable the community to enjoy some vegetables and encourage insects to pollinate. The gardens are a tribute to Vineland Naturalist Mary Treat.
