Lakeside Middle School Teacher Honored

Millville Public Schools proudly celebrates Thomas Hickman, science teacher with the STAR Academy at Lakeside Middle School, for being named a Grand Marshal by the STAR Academy organization—the highest honor bestowed upon educators in the program.

Hickman, a member of Lakeside’s Lightning Learning Team, was selected from among 60 active academies and more than 200 teachers across the network. The recognition highlights his exceptional dedication to students, innovative teaching practices, and leadership within the STAR community.

Hickman was surprised with the honor recently when he was asked to be a special guest on the Lakeside morning announcements livestream, thanks to coordination with video production teacher Ozmear Evans and his student crew. District and school administrators were present to be part of the celebration.

“Mr. Hickman exemplifies what it means to be a passionate, student-centered educator,” said Dr. Matt Mazzoni, superintendent of Millville Public Schools. “His enthusiasm for science and his commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences make him an inspiration to both his students and colleagues.”
