A new family market has opened on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville, and it’s already becoming a popular spot for locals.
Jackson Family Farm Market, located at 5818 Ramsey Street, is run by Brent Jackson, a farmer from Newton Grove who comes from a long line of dedicated farmers.
The market offers fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade goodies, stylish decor, and handcrafted furniture.
Brent’s family has been farming for over a century, with roots going back to his great-grandfather, Irery Warren, who started their farm over 100 years ago.
Irery cleared 45 acres of land in Newton Grove, built a house using the timber, and raised 14 kids there.
That farm became the heart of the family and is still in operation today.
Brent spent his childhood summers on the farm, learning the ropes from his grandfather, Bruce Warren.
While his grandfather taught him farming skills, he also instilled a deep love for the land and the value of hard work.
After high school, Brent continued the family legacy and started farming full-time in 1997.
Even though farming has its challenges, Brent’s passion and dedication have never wavered.
Over the years, the farm shifted from growing tobacco to producing vegetables like sweet corn, butter beans, turnips, and peas.
Now, that same dedication shines through in the Jackson Family Farm Market, which officially opened in September 2024.
The market has plenty of fresh produce, mostly from the family’s 500-acre farm in Newton Grove.
When needed, Brent partners with other local farmers to make sure the shelves are always stocked with the best products.
You’ll find fresh veggies, milk, cheese, jams, baked goods made by a family member, and canned items prepared on-site.
Brent has also planted flowers for the spring and offers seasonal favorites like pumpkins in the fall and Christmas trees during the holidays.
Brent also handcrafts pergolas, patio furniture, and custom items, all available for purchase at the market.
While you grab your groceries, you can also shop for unique home decor, candles, pottery, and gifts.
The store’s cozy, old-fashioned charm comes from the reclaimed wood taken from a 150-year-old tobacco barn on Brent’s family farm.
Adding to the aesthetic, the market’s brick wall is being painted with colorful flower and plant murals.
Additionally, the location couldn’t be better—it’s right next to Dunkin’ and Baskin Robbins and across the street from Crown Fried Chicken on Ramsey Street.
Before this, most people in the area relied on big stores like Walmart, Aldi, or Food Lion for groceries.
Now, they have a local spot to buy fresh, high-quality products and support local businesses.
When it comes to his market, Brent is all-in.
He works seven days a week because he loves his work and takes pride in running the store.
His goal is to make the market a welcoming place for families, whether they’re picking out flowers, choosing pumpkins, or finding the perfect Christmas tree.
The market also supports other local businesses by stocking products like Ashe County Cheese, milk from Homestead Creamery in Virginia, free-range eggs, and country ham.
You’ll even find old-fashioned sodas in glass bottles, candies, and various plants for your home or garden.
The community has welcomed the market with open arms.
Before it officially opened, Brent sold flowers and Christmas trees in Fayetteville, and the response was incredible.
Locals have said they’re excited to have a market like this on the north side of town, which has been lacking independent shops like this.
Brent hopes the market will stay busy all year because it’s in a great location and has many products to choose from.
He plans to hire four to ten employees to help run the store.
Not to mention, this isn’t Brent’s first market—the family also runs a market in Newton Grove—but business there often slows down when school starts.
Opening in Fayetteville was a way to expand the business and reach more people in a high-traffic area.
The store is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the spring and summer.
If you’re in the area, stop by 5818 Ramsey Street and check it out.
