Delaware Bay Lighthouse Cruise

Are you interested in lighthouses? Did you realize there are lighthouses in the Delaware Bay that can only be reached by boat? How would you like to spend time cruising around these lights, seeing them at work, touching the caissons, and learning the history? The Delaware Bay Lighthouse Keepers and Friends Association is sponsoring a Saturday cruise to the lighthouses in the Delaware Bay. The Saturday, August 26, four-hour sunset cruise will go north in the bay to Ship John Shoal Light and return south. It will leave at 3 p.m. out of the NJ State Marina (slip #5) in Fortescue aboard the U.S. Coast Guard-approved Bonanza II.

Lighthouses visited are Miah Maull, Cross Ledge, Elbow of Cross Ledge, Fourteen Foot Bank and either Brandywine (cruise south) or Ship John Shoal (cruise north). There are former lighthouse keepers and members of the Coast Guard aboard these cruises to narrate and answer your questions.

Background information on the Delaware Bay and the history of each lighthouse will be given. For more information and reservations, call 609-408-6692 or e-mail: Keeperang54@yahoo.com. Bring a bag lunch; soda and water provided.
