The Salvation Army Vineland Corps hosted their annual Caring Hearts Awards Dinner recently. The Caring Hearts Award recognizes the dedicated efforts of key volunteers and sponsors in our community and are presented in good fellowship at the annual dinner.
The following individuals and organizations received a 2019 Caring Heart Award: Michael Capizola, Esq. (Capizola, Pancari, et al.), Donald DeRossi (DeRossi & Son), Josh Fisher (B&B Poultry), Barbara Jones (SERVPRO of Cape May & Cumberland Counties), Wanda Lopez (The Salvation Army Vineland Corps After-School Program), Robert Powell (Vineland Construction), Bottino’s ShopRite Vineland, Jason Scythes (First National Bank of Absecon), and Antony Thomas (Chairman – The Salvation Army Advisory Board).
Special awards were given to: Myrna Keller who received the Donchez Award for epitomizing selfless volunteerism and Praful (Paul) Thakkar who received the prestigious “Doing The Most Good” award for exceptional humanitarian efforts and service to the community.
Special recognition was given to former advisory board member, Stephen Donchez and former Corps Officers, Majors Miguel & America Barriera for their dedicated past service to The Salvation Army Vineland Corps and its mission.
Many other volunteers and sponsors were recognized for their service and commendable efforts by receiving certificates and proclamations from city, county, and state officials.

Salvation Army Vineland Corps (SAVC) serves Buena, Millville, Port Norris, and Vineland. They provide emergency disaster services to those in need as well as:: Sunday worship service, Bible school/study, weekly food pantry, free eye clinic for the uninsured, after school programs, clothing vouchers, women’s ministries, grief counselling for families, and rent or utility assistance for qualified families.
