As part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending ticketed events, Millville Public Schools is making an important update to ticketed event bag requirements. Effective Friday, September 6, the district will be moving from a no-bag requirement to a clear-bag requirement for all attendees at major ticketed events. This change is being made in response to the feedback from event guests and an effort to continuously improve procedures.
The adjustment allows the district to maintain high safety standards while also accommodating the needs of event guests. A clear bag requirement will enable security personnel to efficiently screen items brought into the venue, reducing wait times and streamlining the entry process. The change will also better accommodate guests who wish to bring permitted items to ticketed events.
This requirement will go into effect beginning with varsity football home games at Wheaton Field. The clear bag requirement will be instituted at any event that requires tickets and security screening with metal detectors.
Permitted Bags:
- Clear bags that do not exceed 12x6x12 inches.
- This includes MPS branded clear totes and clear plastic bags that do not exceed the dimensions above.
- Wallets and wristlets that are approximately the size of your hand (no larger than 4.5×6.5)
Prohibited Bags:
- Non-clear bags, backpacks, and any bags larger than the allowed dimensions will not be permitted inside the venue.
Prohibited Items:
- Alcohol, tobacco, or drugs (including vapes)
- Weapons of any kind (including sprays)
- Outside food and drink of any kind (including reusable tumblers)
Where to Get a Clear Bag: For guests who do not already have a clear bag, MPS clear totes will be available for purchase at home varsity football games for a cost of $5 per tote (cash only). Clear plastic bags (no larger than 12x6x12) are available at many major retailers. Disposable plastic bags (example: Ziplock brand) within the specified dimensions are also accepted. Guests planning to attend ticketed events, including home varsity football games, are advised to obtain a clear bag before attending to ensure a smooth entry.
The district understands that this change may require some adjustment, and appreciates the cooperation of guests as it implements this requirement. the goal is to create a secure environment while maintaining the convenience and comfort of all attendees.
