Jets’ Veterans Tyrod Taylor and Nick Folk Steal the Spotlight in 27-24 Win Over Falcons
On Nov. 30, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the New York Jets defeated the Atlanta Falcons 27-24 in a cold, wet game played through heavy mist and rain. The matchup featured long stretches of uneven play from both teams, but it ultimately hinged on precise late-game execution from Tyrod Taylor and Nick Folk, the two veteran players on the Jets’ roster.
Folk, 41 and in his second stint with the Jets, kicked a 56-yard field goal as time expired. Earlier in the game, he missed from 55 yards, ending his perfect start to the season after entering the game 20-for-20. He explained that the 38-yard line represented the limit of his kicking range during pregame warmups in the cold and damp weather. Taylor moved the offense to that exact point before Folk attempted the deciding kick. Folk said, “I was like, all right, I’m pretty sure with a little adrenaline I can let one ride,” and added, “So I just went up there and gave it a boot.” After the ball went through, he was surrounded at midfield by teammates as Jets fans cheered in the rain.
Taylor, 36, made his second consecutive start in place of the benched quarterback Justin Fields. He completed 19 of 33 passes for 172 yards and one touchdown, ran for 44 yards, and scored a rushing touchdown. His 10-yard touchdown run tied the game at 24-24 with 1:53 remaining. That score capped a 15-play, 65-yard drive that lasted 6:53. On the drive, the Jets converted three third downs and one fourth down, including a fourth-and-1 keeper by Taylor at the Atlanta 11. Taylor said about his touchdown run, “They took away the first and second read as I stepped up in the pocket… so I saw a lane and went.”
Sportsbooks responded quickly to the result. Across major operators, including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, PointsBet-linked lines, and Caesars-distributed boards, the Jets were positioned as 2.5-point underdogs for their next game. Totals were placed between 40.5 and 41.5, and moneyline ranges held near Miami favored in the mid-minus-100s and the Jets in the low-plus-100s.
Preseason futures had listed the Jets at +20000 to +25000 for the Super Bowl, +1800 to +1900 for the AFC East, and between +425 and +490 to make the playoffs. Updated boards showed Super Bowl odds stretching from +8000 to +100000 and AFC East odds reaching +30000. Playoff markets carried long odds for New York, and earlier “make playoffs” numbers as high as +50000 were removed.
The Jets produced the first points of the game when Jamal Agnew of the Falcons muffed a fair catch of Austin McNamara’s punt. Jets defensive back Qwan’tez Stiggers recovered the ball at the Atlanta 2-yard line. On the next play, Breece Hall ran up the middle for a touchdown. His score came 1:02 into the second quarter.
Atlanta tied the game 7-7 with nine seconds left in the first half on a 1-yard touchdown run by Tyler Allgeier. The Falcons then opened the second half with a 95-yard drive that ended in a 5-yard touchdown run by Bijan Robinson. Robinson finished with 142 rushing yards, a touchdown run, and five receptions for 51 yards.
The Jets answered two plays later when Taylor threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Adonai Mitchell. Mitchell got wide open after Falcons cornerback Mike Hughes fell in coverage. The score tied the game 14-14. The touchdown was Mitchell’s first in the NFL, and he finished with a career-high eight receptions for 102 yards. He was acquired at the trade deadline from Indianapolis in the deal that sent Sauce Gardner to the Colts. The 52-yard touchdown was the Jets’ longest pass play of the season.
Special teams continued to influence the game’s momentum. Zane Gonzalez of Atlanta, the NFC special teams player of the week entering the game, missed a 50-yard field goal wide right with 4:47 left in the third quarter. Folk missed from 55 yards on the next Jets possession. Gonzalez then made a 52-yard field goal as time expired in the third quarter, giving the Falcons a 17-14 lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Jets returner Isaiah Williams returned the ball 83 yards to the Atlanta 15. Folk kicked a 32-yard field goal to tie the game 17-17.
Atlanta regained the lead when quarterback Kirk Cousins threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to David Sills with 8:46 remaining. The touchdown gave the Falcons a 24-17 lead. Cousins finished 21 of 33 for 234 yards and one touchdown. The touchdown was the 291st of his career, moving him past Johnny Unitas for 17th on the NFL’s all-time list.
Taylor’s 10-yard touchdown run tied the game again, and Folk’s extra point made it 24-24. After that, the Falcons went three-and-out, the Jets went three-and-out, and the Jets’ defense forced another three-and-out. With 35 seconds left, the Jets took possession at their own 43. Taylor ran 14 yards to the Atlanta 43. A false start on rookie right tackle Armand Membou moved the Jets back five yards. Taylor then completed passes to Mitchell for 10 yards and 5 yards, placing the ball at the Falcons’ 33 with five seconds left. Folk kicked the 56-yard field goal on the next play.
After the game, Taylor said, “The only thing that matters to me is winning,” and described his satisfaction that the team continued to battle. He also said, “I was glad when Nick signed, because that didn’t make me the oldest on the team,” and mentioned his 15 years with seven teams. He explained that he uses his experience from “very good teams” and “so-so teams” to support younger players.
