Inspira Medical Center Woodbury has received national Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Pathway designation recognizes a health care organization’s commitment to creating a positive environment that empowers and engages its nursing staff. By creating an optimal environment, hospitals are able to recruit and retain top candidates and employees, benefitting the organization and the patients they serve. Ultimately, a highly skilled and engaged staff raises the level of care and helps patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
“I’m so proud of the entire team,” said Terri Spoltore, vice president of Patient Care Services at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury. This recognition truly reflects their commitment to our patients and the nursing profession. We have joined a very elite Pathway to Excellence group of hospitals.”
As the final step of the Pathway to Excellence application process, more than 380 nurses completed an on-line survey. This input was critically important to the application process. The results demonstrated that the nursing staff are highly engaged in professional development, collaboration, safety initiatives and quality improvement. A special Pathway Café, with dedicated computers, was set up to provide a convenient location for filling out the survey.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center designated the first Pathway to Excellence organization in 2005. Only 166 hospitals in the country, including just two in the Delaware Valley, have earned the designation. Inspira Woodbury is the third acute care hospital in New Jersey to earn the designation.
