Hunter To Be Honored by Scouting America as a Woman of Achievement

Scouting America Garden State Council is hosting an evening dedicated to honoring women whose vision, service, and leadership make a lasting difference in our communities. Presented by Performance Marketing & Signage, this year’s celebration will recognize seven women from southern New Jersey counties, including Dawn S. Hunter, who has been executive director of the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce since 2010. She oversees more than 410 member businesses and organizations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and an Associate of Science in Travel & Tourism.

Hunter serves on the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce Alliance, the Rowan College of South Jersey Entrepreneurship Advisory Committee, and several Vineland-specific committees, including the Downtown District Economic Development, Green Committee, and Public Schools Community Partnership Action Committee. She is also an active member of the Vineland Rotary Club.

In addition to her professional roles, Hunter has a long history of personal volunteerism. She was a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters for 10 years and remains close with her mentee. She is also an active member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), holding leadership roles within both the local and state chapters. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Dawn received the inaugural NJ State Chamber Alliance Partner of the Year Award in 2023. This was followed by a State of New Jersey Joint Legislative Resolution from the Senate and General Assembly in 2024, honoring her achievements.

Other honorees at the Scouting America event are Keisha Stephenson Taylor, Ed.D; Janice Campbell; Amy J. Mahon; Vojislava Pophristic, Ed.D; Candice Racite, Ed.D; and Chris Aziz – Woman Scouter of the Year.

Guests will enjoy a reception, dinner, and awards program on Thursday, November 13 starting at 5:30 p.m. at The Legacy Club, 300 Evesham Road, in Cherry Hill, with proceeds supporting scouting programs that prepare young people to lead and succeed.
