Cumberland County Health Department Offering COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics

The Cumberland County Department of Health is announcing its COVID-19 vaccination clinic schedule for the month of September. These clinics will offer the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine for 18 years and older as well as the Pfizer vaccine for anyone over the age of 12. The clinics will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays in both Millville and Bridgeton. The health department will also be offering COVID-19 vaccinations at events being held throughout the community.

In addition, the health department is offering an additional third dose for individuals who are immunocompromised. The CDC recommends that individuals who are moderately to severely immunocompromised (those with a weakened immune system) should receive a third dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. Individuals must wait at least 28 days after their second dose before they get their third dose. These individuals include:

• Those who are receiving active cancer treatment

• Those who have received an organ transplant or are taking medicine to suppress their immune system

• Those who received a stem cell transplant within two years or are taking medicine to suppress their immune system

• Those with an advanced or untreated HIV infection

• Those in active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress the immune system.

If you are unsure if you should get an additional dose now, contact your primary care provider to discuss your medical information. There is currently no additional dose available for those who received the Johnson & Johnson one-dose vaccine.

Those who are looking to receive an additional dose must schedule an appointment. The health department will not accept walk-ins for third doses.
