Bojangles To Locate on Delsea Drive
The first southern New Jersey Bojangles Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits restaurant will open at 3341 S. Delsea Drive in Vineland sometime this year, taking over a former Burger King site.
Bojangles is a chain of fast-food restaurants established in North Carolina in 1977. It is well-known for Cajun-seasoned fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits. The southern-inspired menu’s other comfort foods include dirty rice, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, seasoned fries, and coleslaw.
There is no date set for the Vineland location to open, but crews are working on the conversion.
With over 800 locations and 9,000 employees, Bojangles has been in a category like Popeyes and KFC for almost 50 years,
According to the company, its founders, Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas, came up with the moniker for Bojangles Fried Chicken because Fulk heard the 1970-song “Mr. Bojangles” by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The song has nothing to do with chicken, but Fulk liked the sound of the name.
