Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties (BBBS) is pleased to welcome Madisyn Miller as the organization’s new Program Manager. In her new role, Madisyn will assist in recruiting volunteers, interviewing, matching both Bigs and Littles, providing ongoing support to matches, and managing day-to-day operations of individual programs.
Madisyn earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers-Newark School of Criminal Justice in May of 2019, graduating with honors. Madisyn has continued her education and is expecting to graduate in December of 2019 with her master’s degree. She has a background in advocacy, volunteering with various non-profit groups, and has also served as Vice President of Communications for one of the largest student body organizations on campus.
“We are thrilled to have Madisyn on board,” said BBBS President and CEO Donna Bennett. “She is a high energy, compassionate, caring individual, and is excited to work with the Bigs and Littles in our program. She is eager to begin helping children achieve their full potential. I have no doubt she will have a positive impact on the youth enrolled in our programs.”
“I am the oldest child in my family, and always wished I had someone older than me to give me advice while attending school and transitioning to college,” Miller said. “I am a proud first-generation college student, so adapting to that environment was very different for me. Now being part of Big Brothers Big Sisters will allow me to give back to those in our community, and to be the person whom I wanted when I was younger. One of my favorite quotes by an unknown author sums it up perfectly for me – ‘She needed a hero, so she became one.’ ”
