Bayshore Center at Bivalve Receives Grant from Impact100 South Jersey

The Bayshore Center at Bivalve (BCB) was awarded $27,500 by Impact100 South Jersey, a local women’s collective giving initiative, at the group’s annual meeting recently. During the event, members awarded $185,000 in grants to six nonprofits that provide crucial services for the South Jersey region.

The $27,500 grant will be used for capacity building in relation to education programs. This support has immediately allowed the center, to develop a hands-on science-based summer camp curriculum. The center plans to offer “Bayshore Discovery Camp” for youth in grades 4-6. Camp will be offered Monday, August 5 through Thursday, August 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Register at Bayshorecenter.org

Over the next two years the organization is focused on building a 21st century environmental education center for youth and adults on land and on water. Utilizing current assets of boat A.J. Meerwald, museum & BCB facility to build an environmentally educated community through community programs. Increase access to our bays, rivers and the Atlantic Ocean through education. Expand BCB program impact to communities along coastal NJ, targeting grades 5 and 6 with additional programming for grades 7 through 12.

Since launching in 2017, Impact100 South Jersey has awarded over $1.2 million to 21 South Jersey nonprofits. The South Jersey chapter is one of over 65 chapters in four countries that have awarded over $123 million to nonprofits in their local communities since 2001.

“Our grants are funded entirely by our members. Each contributes $1,000 toward grants awarded to nonprofits serving Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Cumberland counties,” said Kyle Ruffin, president of the Impact100 South Jersey Chapter. “Our ability to fund local organizations is directly connected to our members’ desire to make our region better by leveraging their generosity in this unique way.”
