The heat of summer is upon us and the craziness of everyday life is a reality. This heat wave has definitely made it hard to enjoy being outside some days. Don’t be discouraged and hopefully this article is what you need to be producztive this week. Here are a few tips that can help you and your home have a smooth transition as the seasons progress. Then you can sit back, relax and enjoy!
Wash your home’s exterior: Depending on the siding you have, powerwashing can potentially do harm. In most cases a garden hose and a cleaning wand attachment is all you need. Remember to protect your plants and shrubs. Make it fun and do it in your bathing suit!
Clean your deck or patio: After cleaning your wooden deck, remember to treat the wood with stain and seal once it has dried. Freshen up your patio furniture with an all-purpose cleaner and clean or replace your cushions. Teal is my personal color of choice.
Tend the garden: Put down mulch to protect your plants, boost their growth and give your yard a finished look.
Air out your home’s interior: When you have a nice breezy day with low humidity, open those windows and bring in the sunshine and fresh air. Not only will this freshen up your home, but it tends to make me a little happier knowing I am not paying for air conditioning that day.
Rearrange your décor: Make it a change of scenery. Lighten it up. Make the inside of your home feel bright and cheery. Moving a piece of furniture to a new location reminds you that you have options. Be summer ready!
Add a fresh coat of paint: A new color or a fresh coat of paint in your favorite room can do wonders and just lift your spirits. Remember you can do just one wall to keep the project small; create that accent wall you always wanted.
Whether you are a DYIer or you hire a professional, this is definitely a worthwhile project. Hope you are enjoying your summer so far. Take one step at a time and enjoy the process. The end results will be something you will have months to enjoy.
Until next week, be happy and safe.
