Mike Trout Earns Third MVP

by Ahmad Graves-El

Millville’s Mike Trout won his third Major League Baseball American League Most Valuable Player award. Trout, a center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels, and Millville High School graduate, beat out the Houston Astros’ Alex Bregman to win the prestigious award.

Trout received 355 votes, including 17 first place votes, to defeat Bregman for the honor.

The AL MVP award, as well as the NL MVP award, AL and NL Cy Young awards and AL and NL Rookie of the Year awards, were announced on Thursday, November 14, and are voted on annually by members of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

During the 2019 season, Trout hit 45 home runs, with a .291 batting average, to go along with 104 RBIs.

By winning again this year, Trout has entered an historic realm by becoming only the 11th player in Major League History to ever win three MVP awards.

SNJ Today congratulates Mike Trout for completing another outstanding season and receiving the illustrious MVP award.
