South Jersey Food Donation Drive: Coffee & Tea Needed for Local Pantries

In many homes, a warm cup of coffee or tea is how the day begins.
Something about boiling the kettle or brewing a fresh pot of coffee makes a day feel like it’s on track.
But for many families in South Jersey who are struggling with food insecurity, even these simple items can be out of reach.
That’s why the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) has launched the “Cups for CAP” campaign.
This effort aims to collect coffee and tea donations for the Community Assistance Pantry (CAP) in Egg Harbor Township, which serves more than 1,800 households every month.
At its core, this campaign gives people the dignity to choose the items they need, just as they would in a regular grocery store.
Many food donation drives focus on staples like canned goods and pasta, but coffee and tea are often overlooked, which is odd since the little things can make a big difference, especially for those facing difficult times.
So, how can you help? It’s simple.
The campaign is asking for donations of unopened boxes of tea, coffee bags (any size), and coffee cups or pods.
If you’d like to contribute, you can drop off items at CFBNJ’s headquarters at 6735 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township, during business hours.
Donations can also be made through an Amazon Wish List at cfbnj.org/cupsforcap if visiting in person isn’t an option.
This collection drive runs through March 31, but the need doesn’t end there—donations are welcome year-round.
If you have any questions or want to learn more, you can reach out to Ali Stefanik at 609-246-0849 or astefanik@cfbnj.org.
But that’s not the only way to help.
Women Fighting Hunger, a volunteer group supporting CFBNJ, also organizes other donation drives, including an annual diaper drive in the fall and a period product drive in the spring.
Their work helps ensure that families have access to more than food because, as we know, basic needs go beyond food and water.
At the same time, the Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) of Southern New Jersey is also working hard to fight hunger in the region.
The Betsy & Peter Fischer Food Pantry in Cherry Hill is where donations help families who need food.
With more people struggling to put food on the table, JFCS relies on community contributions to keep their shelves stocked.
They’ve put together a list of most-needed items, which includes everyday staples like:
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Hot and cold cereal
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Pasta, noodles, and sauce
- Canned tuna and salmon
- Coffee, tea, and juice
- Baby essentials like diapers and formula
- Personal care products such as shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant
If you’re interested in donating to JFCS, you can drop off food at two locations:
- Rhona Fischer Family Assistance Building (6 East Miami Avenue, Cherry Hill)
-
- Monday-Wednesday, 9 AM – 3 PM
- 24/7 drop-off container available outside
- JFCS Main Office (1301 Springdale Road, Suite 150, Cherry Hill)
-
- Monday-Thursday, 9 AM – 3 PM
They also accept gift cards from ShopRite, Target, and Walmart, which allow families to buy fresh food and other necessities.
At the end of the day, these donation drives are what community and kindness are all about.
A bag of coffee or a box of tea may seem small, but to someone in need, it can mean so much.
