by Marianne Lods, Executive Director, Millville Development Corporation

This weekend, on March 11 and 12, a Storybook Festival at the Shoppes at Dragon Village, 97 Trench Road, Bridgeton (formerly Dutch Neck Village) will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a new event to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. There will be plenty of kid activities and readings by a local library. Food trucks and craftsmen will also be in attendance. Look for storybook characters portrayed by the Mystic Realms Theater Club!

If you have never been to Dragon Village, it is in the beautiful countryside south and west of Route 49 in Bridgeton. Perhaps you may want to visit the Bridgeton Amish Market on Route 49 (Hopewell Twp.). There is a great variety of shops, delis, and a restaurant. Winter hours are Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit bridgetonamishmarket.com

The whole family is in for a real treat on Friday, March 17, when the Levoy Theatre presents Fairy Tales on Ice, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and again from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Fairy Tales on Ice will have performances again on Saturday, March 18, at 2 and 6 p.m. These shows are 90 minutes each. Fairy Tales on Ice will delight, entertain, and leave you—and the family mesmerized by world-class pro-champion ice skaters, live singing, and cirque from all ends of the globe spinning through show-stopping sets and enchanting effects.

The Bay Atlantic Symphony is celebrating 40 years of performing in Cumberland and Atlantic counties. On March 11 at 3 p.m. the orchestra will present “Folk ‘n Fancy” at the Guarancini Performing Arts Center on the main campus of Rowan College South Jersey. The professional orchestra is led by Maestro Jed Gaylin and will feature guitarist Junhong Kuang. If you’ve never attended a Bay Atlantic Symphony concert, this is a great time to enjoy. If March 11 isn’t good for you, note that a second performance will be held on Sunday, March 12, at Stockton University.
