Celebrate Veteran’s Week with Rowan College of South Jersey

Join Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) for Veterans’ Week from Monday, November 6 through Friday, November 10. The College will be hosting a series of events to honor those who have served our country and to connect veterans with the support services available to them at RCSJ and within their communities.

The week will kick off with Veterans’ Resources Fairs held on Monday at the Gloucester campus College Center and Tuesday at the Cumberland campus Student Services building, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. RCSJ will be joined by local organizations to share information on medical, housing and utility assistance; VA benefits; counseling and therapeutic services; peer support and recreational activities. The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office will attend Monday’s event and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will attend on Tuesday with emotional support dogs to lend a paw to supporting our veterans.

On Thursday at 2:30 p.m. the Cumberland campus will celebrate the installation of its Military Wall of Fame in the Arpino Education & Humanities Center. The project will feature photos of military students along with plaques commemorating RCSJ’s past Student Veteran of the Year recipients, Student Veteran Association presidents, and its military-affiliated employees. It also includes recognitions RCSJ has received for the high level of service it provides to its military students, including the Military Friendly® School designation and the New Jersey’s Governor “We Value Our Veterans” Academia Award.

The week will conclude with RCSJ’s annual Veteran’s Day celebration on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Gloucester campus gymnasium, hosted by the Gloucester County Board of Commissioners and the College’s Office of Military Services. The ceremony will feature the Semper Fidelis Color Guard and music provided by bugler, Thomas Moore, and will conclude with a recognition ceremony for the 2023 Gloucester and Cumberland RCSJ Veteran of the Year recipients.

No registration is required for any of these free events and community members are encouraged to attend. Learn more about support services and educational opportunities available to RCSJ’s military students at RCSJ.edu/Veterans or stop by the campus Military Services Office for one-on-one guidance.
