Flags Placed at Veterans Memorial Park
Commercial Township Mayor Mike Vizzard, Deputy Mayor Fletcher Jamison and Committee Members of the Veterans Memorial Park in Commercial Township met with Miss Stars And Stripes Jessenia Rivera and Miss Stars And Stripes Outstanding Teen Samantha Layton. They thanked the young ladies for recently planting flowers, placing flags and doing some general clean-up at the Veterans Memorial Park in recognition of National Purple Heart Day.
Purple Heart Day is observed on August 7 each year and is a time for Americans to remember and honor the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield, or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. C&M Greenhouses and Cesar Morales donated the red, white and blue flowers. Alex Kaganzev donated the flags.
