Cedric P. Holmes has been named as the newest member of the Cumberland Cape Atlantic Board of Directors. Known locally as the youngest member of the Vineland Board of Education, Holmes is also respected for his community service, musicianship, and professional competence. He is a property manager for Lakeshore Management in Vineland and is the administrator at Bridgeton’s Union Baptist Temple.
The new board member has devoted his life to the children of South Jersey. He is a Big Brother/Big Sister mentor, is involved with the Search for Conscience Club at Vineland High School and the Rotaract Club (an offshoot of Rotary International), and is president of the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland County.
Board president Shayne Bevilacqua was among the Board members who welcomed Cedric to the YMCA organization. “We are pleased to have Cedric join us. He brings not only great experience and knowledge of the community, but a fresh perspective that we appreciate,” Bevilacqua said.
Holmes recalled spending time at the Y as a youngster, participating in swimming lessons, parties, and other activities. “The Y offers so many programs that consider individuals’ interests. Part of that is the Y’s commitment to the health and well-being of kids,” he said. “The facility itself is refreshing and relevant.”
Holmes particularly enjoys playing the piano and giving lessons in his spare time. He is a Vineland resident.
