Millville Woman’s Club (MWC) is a member of New Jersey State Federation of Woman’s Clubs (NJSFWC). The on-going NJSFWC Special State Project is support for New Jersey Children’s Alliance (NJCA). NJCA is “a statewide non-profit membership organization whose mission is to promote hope, healing, and justice for child abuse victims.” (https://njcainc.org) There are Child Advocacy Centers in all New Jersey counties and NJCA provides them with training in identification, response, prevention, and advocacy. The Cumberland County Child Advocacy Center is located at 14 East Commerce Street in Bridgeton.
As the new school year was approaching, members of the MWC purchased backpacks and filled them with pencils, pencil bags, pens, highlighters, rulers, notebooks, folders, index cards, post-it notes and more. On August 22, Barbara Westog, MWC Special State Project Director; Donna Pio, MWC Education Committee Chair; and Bobbi Stubee, MWC; met with Iris Migdalia Dabney, Bilingual Child Advocate; and Lisa Shelton, SERV Prevention Specialist; at the Child Advocacy Center in Bridgeton to donate 17 backpacks filled with school supplies.
MWC will continue to support NJCA in its mission to protect children. Information regarding NJCA can be obtained by calling (877)NJ-ABUSE.
