Sophomore Davi Jimenez of Vineland is one of 18 of Goldey-Beacom’s student-athletes tabbed an All-America Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for having at least a 3.5 GPA during the 2023-24 academic yerar.
This year’s softball team again was a force on the field and in the classroom, recording a 3.58 GPA, placing them 42nd in the country among reporting NCAA Division II schools.
In just another highlight for the Wilmington college, Jimenez and seven teammates also made the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Academic Team based on their cumulative GPA.
The Lightning’s field performance was also strong. It had an 26-28 record, 14-8 in the CACC, after stepping up its schedule against some of the area’s elite squads from outside the conference. The third-place conference finish was the best since 2017. Its third place tournament finish matched the Lightning’s best finish at the CACC Tournament, accomplished in 2005.
The All-Academic list also includes Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK), Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE), Alesia Doctor(Rising Sun, MD), Devon Ellixson (Mullica Hill, NJ), McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA), Emma Friel (Coatesville, PA), Delaney Insinga (Southampton, NJ) , Katie Knecht (Easton, PA), Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ), Morgan McLane (Clayton, DE), Gabriella Monzo (Northfield, NJ), Abigail O’Shields(Dagsboro, DE), Rayna Pelcak (Laurel Springs, NJ), Gwen Safin (Stroudsburg, PA), Marah Schotz ( Lockport, NY), Molly Skelly (Laurel Springs, NJ) and Bri Snover (Claymont, DE).
Jimenez played in 26 games with four starts, had a hit vs. Post and stolen bases vs Bemidji State and Saint Rose.
As a freshman in 2023, she competed in 16 games with three starts, had a double and a stolen base vs. Washington Adventist, recorded an RBI triple vs. Lincoln-PA (3/1, and stole a base vs. Millersville.
