Vinelander Wins Writing Award at Rochester Institute of Technology

Medina is a fourth-year student and one of about a dozen winners of the Kearse.

The honor was created in 1980 thanks to a donation from Henry J. Kearse, founder and president of the construction firm H.J. Kearse Inc., and his wife, Mary, a longtime member of RIT’s Nathaniel Rochester Society. 

Awards are given to students whose work embodies the ideals and standards of excellence, creative endeavor, and scholarship championed by the college, with selections and awards made by faculty committees in each department within the college of liberal arts.

There are more than 800 students in the liberal arts college and a total of 14,000 enrolled at RIT.

RIT is a premier private university recognized for combining technology, arts, and design, with a strong focus on experiential learning. RIT is famous for its extensive cooperative education (co-op) and internship program, placing over 20,000 students across global campuses. Key programs include engineering, computing, and imaging science.
