Vineland to Send Estimated Third Quarter Tax Bills

As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the State of New Jersey has moved its fiscal year to September 30 and will not be able to certify municipal budgets in time for an actual third quarter tax rate. As a result of the change, the City of Vineland will be issuing estimated third quarter tax bills for tax payments due August 1.

“We want residents to be aware that the third quarter estimated tax bill is the only bill you will receive for the August 1st payment,” said City of Vineland Tax Collector Carmen DiGiorgio, CTC. “Please remember that in order to avoid interest charges, all payments must be received on or before August 10, 2020. Any payments received after this date will be charged interest from the original due date of August 1st. Per state law, postmarks are not accepted. Any adjustments resulting from successful tax appeals will be included on the fourth quarter tax bill.”

According to city officials, tax bills for the November 1, 2020, February 1, 2021, and May 1, 2021 payment dates will be mailed and adjusted following the State certification of City, County, and school district budgets, as well as, certification of the tax rate from the Cumberland County Board of Taxation. This is anticipated to be completed in late August or early September 2020.

As a reminder, if you have recently paid off your mortgage and will now pay property taxes directly to the city, please advise the Tax Collector’s office to avoid any potential late fees. Residents should include the advice copy stub of their tax bill with the payment.

“For the public’s convenience, we have also added two additional drop box locations at City Hall for property tax and Municipal Utility payments which are collected daily,” DiGiorgio said. “The first is located on Wood Street next to the Fed Ex drop box across from the City Hall steps, and the second is near the corner of 7th and Plum Streets. A third drop slot for after-hours payments also remains available between the two drive-through cashier windows located off of 7th Street.”

Anyone with questions can call the Vineland Tax Collector’s office at 856-794-4050. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m
