Vineland Police Department Promotes New Deputy Chief and Captain
Vineland city officials were on hand for the promotion of two outstanding members of the Vineland Police Department.
First, Captain Craig Scarpa was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief. He was joined by his wife Elise, son Nicky, and daughter Cameron. Deputy Chief Scarpa joined the Department in 2007 and was assigned to the Detective Bureau in 2012. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2015, Lieutenant in 2019, and Captain in 2022 where he led the Criminal Division overseeing Detectives, Narcotics, and Crime Scene Units.
Lieutenant Adam Shaw was promoted to the rank of Captain. He was joined by his wife Megan, son Adam, Jr. and daughter Lily. Lieutenant Shaw joined the Department 2006. In 2014 he was assigned to the Street Crimes Unit as a K-9 Officer. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2015 and was promoted to Patrol Lieutenant in 2022.
“Promotions such as these are not only a recognition of past performance, but a vote of confidence in the future,” said Public Safety Director Edwin Alicea. “We are confident that both Deputy Chief Scarpa and Captain Shaw will continue to lead with honor, professionalism, and pride.”
“Through their experience, integrity, and vision, these two dedicated officers have strengthened the Department at every level of command,” said Mayor Anthony Fanucci.
“Congratulations to both of you and thank you for your continued service to the Department and the community. Your service is an inspiration for others to follow.”
