At a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 24, the Vineland Police Department allowed community members to tour their new headquarters, located at 620 East Plum Street. This is the culmination of a $20 million construction project that began in January 2018, and now the finished building boasts 66,000 square feet of space.
The new headquarters features a records room, forensics room, offices for detectives and administrators, prisoner processing, training facilities, a 911 call center, and more. Vineland Police Chief Rudy Beu said at the event that the PD’s previous headquarters served the department for 54 years, but it was time to move to a larger building.
“[We’ve] busted at the seams. We’re triple the size of what we were when I first came on, and we just don’t have the room in that facility,” said Beu, referring to the location they are currently occupying at 111 North 6th Street.
The new headquarters is expected to be usable by late November.
