Vineland Basketball Star Named NJAC Player of the Week

Vineland High School Class of 2019 basketball star DJ Campbell, a senior guard on the Stockton University team, was recently named New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Week for the third time this season after a career game in a 95-81 win over Montclair State to open the 2024 calendar year portion of the conference schedule.

The four-year varsity star exploded for a career-high 39 points, the most by an NJAC player in a game this season and second-most in Stockton history. He shot 58 percent overall (15-for-26). He also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the year, and just one off his career-high rebound total. He added a game-high four steals and dished one assist.

Campbell currently ranks third in the conference in scoring at 20.6 points per game. He also ranks fourth in conference-only rebounding (7.7 rpg), fifth in conference-only blocks (1.1 bpg) and tied for fifth in conference-only steals (2.0 spg).

Campbell was one of the best to ever play at Vineland. In four years, he was a consistent force on both offense and defense. He accumulated 1,353 points, one of the highest totals in school history.

In his senior year, Campbell averaged 29.4 points a game with a total of 705, again among the best all-time.

In a thrilling win over Atlantic City, 76-71, in March 2019, Campbell netted 50 points, including nine three-pointers and a perfect 9-for-9 on foul shots.

Freshman Tyler Spencer of Kean University was NJAC Rookie of the Week. He is from Markham, Ontario, Canada and played for Crestwood Prep College.
