Exciting South Jersey New Openings Bringing Fresh Food, Fun, and Ideas to the Area

There’s always something happening in South Jersey, isn’t there?

Every time you look, there’s a new spot to check out—whether it’s a great place to eat, shop, or try something fun.

Right now, everyone’s talking about the exciting new places opening in the area, and they’re all a little different.

Foodies, exciting news: a new café offering authentic Mexican cuisine is now in town. Plus, there’s a dessert shop that crafts ice cream using your favorite cereals.

Aside from food, there’s an indoor pickleball club coming.

And for anyone who loves decorating or organizing their home, IKEA is opening a smaller, more personalized store to help you plan out your dream space.

Let’s look at these new places and why they’re worth checking out.

1. Alebrijes Café & Sweets – Haddonfield

First up, we have Alebrijes Café & Sweets.

This new café has made its home at 223 Kings Highway in Haddonfield, stepping into the shoes of The Cookie Basket, which closed late last year.

If you’re wondering what makes this place special, let me tell you—it’s all about bringing the vibrant flavors of Mexico to the heart of South Jersey.

The café serves tortas, tacos, and a variety of sweets that rival their tacos—they’re that good.

And let’s not forget the drinks!

You’ll find hot and cold beverages, making it a perfect stop whether you’re in the mood for a warm cup of coffee or something refreshing.

Alebrijes has already made a great first impression, filling the gap left by The Cookie Basket with something entirely unique.

2. Swirl’in Ice Cream & Cereal Bar – Marlton

Now, let’s talk about dessert. Swirl’in Ice Cream & Cereal Bar is coming back soon, and people are excited.

Located at 221 E Greentree Road in Marlton, this is far from your run-of-the-mill ice cream joint.

Swirl’in takes your favorite childhood cereals—classics like Cocoa Puffs or Lucky Charms—and mixes them into creamy ice cream to make custom treats.

But unfortunately, a fire in the shopping complex last summer forced the store to temporarily close.

Don’t worry, though; there’s good news: Swirl’in says they’re gearing up to reopen, and it’s only a matter of time before we can enjoy those one-of-a-kind desserts again.

If you’ve never been, it’s worth a visit as soon as the doors are back open.

3. ACE Pickleball Club – Mount Laurel

Moving from desserts to sports, South Jersey is also about to welcome a new hotspot for pickleball fans.

ACE Pickleball Club is coming to East Gate Square, located at 1191 Nixon Drive in Mount Laurel.

Now, if you’re wondering what’s so great about pickleball, let me fill you in—it’s the fastest-growing sport in the country right now!

This indoor club is perfect for anyone who loves pickleball or wants to give it a try.

Arguably, the best part is that you don’t have to book ahead or even bring a partner.

Just show up, and the courts are divided by skill level, so you’ll always find the right competition.

With about 20 ACE locations nationwide and one already operating in Voorhees, the new destination in Mount Laurel will surely be a hit.

While there is no exact opening date yet, East Gate Square has confirmed it will be “coming soon.”

Pickleball is a sport for everyone, so whether you’re a seasoned player or a beginner, this is a place to check out.

4. IKEA ‘Plan & Order Point’ – Cherry Hill

Last but not least, we have a new kind of IKEA store coming to the Ellisburg Shopping Center at 22 Route 70 in Cherry Hill.

If you’re familiar with the massive IKEA warehouses, this new concept store might surprise you.

Called a “Plan & Order Point,” it’s much smaller and focuses on personalized service.

Here’s how it works: instead of wandering through aisles of furniture, you can meet with IKEA staff to plan your dream kitchen, bedroom, or bathroom.

They’ll help you pick the perfect pieces, and then you can arrange for delivery or scheduled pickup.

It’s a streamlined experience designed to save you time while still giving you access to IKEA’s iconic designs.

This isn’t IKEA’s first store of this kind.

A similar concept opened in Charlotte, North Carolina, in October 2024, and it’s been a big success.

Now, South Jersey shoppers will get the same convenience when the Cherry Hill location opens this summer.

As you can see, a lot is happening in South Jersey right now, and it’s a great time to check out all the new places opening up.

What better chance to get out, try something new, and enjoy all the exciting things happening in the area?

Grab a friend, take your family, or go on your own and explore everything these new spots have to offer.

South Jersey is growing, and these new openings are just the start of even more exciting changes to come.

Get out there, have fun, and see what makes South Jersey such a great place to live and visit!
