Smiles All Around

Boys & Girls Club Summer Enrichment Program youth made candy grams for their fellow campers as part of National Smile & Kindness Month in August. They also discussed the importance of showing “Love and Kindness” to everyone. The Club members wrote positive affirmations on hearts and attached them to lollipops and passed them out to campers and staff.

If you search the Internet, you will find various dates for National Smile Month, World Kindness Day, and the like, but let’s face it: Every day is a good day to wear a smile.

The AI overview of smiling goes like this:

Smiling can have a positive impact on both the giver and receiver, and can have many benefits for your health and well-being:

Mood: Smiling can improve your mood by increasing hormones that enhance mood, like dopamine and serotonin, while decreasing hormones that increase stress, like cortisol and adrenaline. It can also trigger your brain to release endorphins, which can relieve pain and stress.

Physical health: Smiling can reduce your blood pressure and boost your immune system. It can also increase your endurance and reduce pain.

Relationships: Smiling can improve your relationships and make you appear more likable, courteous, and competent. It can also create a positive and welcoming atmosphere that can transform someone’s day.

Productivity: Smiling can improve your productivity.

Self-confidence: Smiling can increase your self-confidence.

Optimism: Smiling can be linked to optimism, which Harvard Health Publishing says is associated with a lower risk of early death from cancer and infection.
