SJI Raises $50K for the American Heart Association at Ocean City Walk

On May 17, SJI participated in the Heart Walk of Southern New Jersey, gathering 130 participants and exceeding their goal of raising $50,000 for the American Heart Association at the Ocean City Sport & Civic Center in Ocean City, NJ.

The mission of the Heart Walk is to raise funds to save lives from heart disease and stroke. The event is organized by the American Heart Association and serves as a platform for individuals to improve their overall health and raise awareness about cardiovascular disease.

“SJI is proud to participate in the Heart Walk, celebrating our heart heroes and caring for our community,” said Wes Becker, Vice President, Customer Experience, SJIU. “Whether it’s providing education to individuals about heart disease or raising essential funds for lifesaving research, every effort counts, and we are immensely grateful to our employees and the communities we serve for their support.”

Becker has been appointed to the Executive Leadership Team of the Southern New Jersey Heart Walk and is the Executive Sponsor for SJI’s Heart Walk Committee. He replaces Bubba Schomber, President & CEO, South Jersey Gas, who has served on the Executive Leadership Team for three years.

“It has been an honor to serve on the Executive Leadership Team of the Southern New Jersey Heart Walk for the past three years,” said Schomber. “To execute on the organization’s mission of raising awareness of heart disease and stroke and improving overall heart health is truly fulfilling and rewarding.”

SJI prides itself on being a committed community partner, assisting local, regional and statewide organizations that deliver critical support to those in need, providing vital funding and contributing a significant amount of volunteer hours to programs that benefit the communities they serve.
