Rutgers Master Gardeners Visit Veterans Home

Vineland Veterans Home participants gathered in June for the dedication of their courtyard garden, which was planted by the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Cumberland County Horticultural Enrichment team. Master Gardener Coordinator Pam Burton was in attendance on this Flag Day to address the Veterans and thank them for their service.

A sign donated by the Master Gardeners was placed in memory of both Ernie Webber, a resident gardener who had kept the area planted in the past, and Master Gardener Suzanne Kavanaugh, who initiated the monthly Horticulture Enrichment program. Veterans were able to add their patriotic themed decorative garden stakes that they created at the May activity to the raised beds and containers, which were filled with annuals, natives, herbs and tomatoes.
