Ragsdale Drafted by Milwaukee Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers selected Vineland native and St. Augustine Prep alum Josiah ”Joey” Ragsdale with the 215th pick in the seventh round of the 2025 MLB Draft in July. He was an outfielder for a year at Boston College (BC) and became the 94th player in program history to reach the next level of baseball.
Ragsdale hit .319 on the season for Boston College after spending the previous two seasons at Iona. In 56 games, the 6-0 lefthander registered an on-base percentage of .418 and slugged nearly .500. He hit five home runs and knocked in 30 runs.
He had 16 multi-hit games in 2025, including five games with three or more hits. Seventeen of Ragsdale’s 66 hits were for extra bases, including five triples, ranking him second in the ACC and 19th nationally. He also ranked among the conference leaders in stolen bases, swiping 30 bags—good for fifth among the ACC.
Ragsdale starred with the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod Baseball League. In 16 games played, he hit .373 with 19 hits in 51 at-bats. His OPS of .918 ranks among the top 20 in the CCBL and he is tied for the league lead along with BC teammate Adam Magpoc with 15 stolen bases.
