Pledge Your Support

by Russell Swanson, Exec. Dir., VDID, Main Street Vineland

In last week’s column, I stressed the importance of promoting and supporting the businesses on The Ave—patronizing “essential” businesses that are allowed to remain open and remembering to come back to the “non-essential” businesses when they reopen.

Main Street Vineland has joined forces with the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce to give you another way to support your local businesses—both on The Ave and throughout the community.

It’s an online pledge that we’re urging you to take that you’ll give local businesses your patronage and support. This sends the powerful message that the economic health of local businesses is OUR economic health.

Locally owned businesses are vital to our economic health. Their owners are friends and neighbors who employ thousands of our residents. We’re asking you to pledge to: (1) follow the instructions issued by Gov. Murphy’s office and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) with regard to social distancing so we can get “back to business” as soon as possible; (2) support our local businesses that have been severely impacted by our country’s current health crisis, once they reopen for business; and (3) support those businesses that have been granted permission to remain open during the Governor’s Executive Order.

This means much to the economic health of our communities and the wellbeing of the people who are the communities. They rely on these businesses for goods and services, as well as for their own livelihoods.

Our local businesses are being hit hard and, with this lengthy economic shutdown, those livelihoods are put on the line. We need to remember our local businesses—now and when times begin to improve.

Taking the online pledge is easy. Just visit Main Street Vineland’s website at TheAve.biz or the Facebook page (facebook.com/mainstreetvineland).

Remember to support our local restaurants on The Ave by participating in the “Dine The Ave” Restaurant Gift Card Giveaway. We at Main Street Vineland have organized the monthlong giveaway in cooperation with New Jersey’s Heartland, and with generous sponsorship by Century Savings Bank. Forty individuals will have a chance to win a $25 gift card to participating restaurants on The Ave. That’s $1,000 in gift cards! This is a great opportunity to select from the variety of cuisines the restaurants on The Ave boast and, at the same time, promote and help these restaurants.

Participating restaurants are: Taste Buds (22 W. Landis Ave., Suite A), Tony Soprano’s Pizzeria 107 W. Landis Ave.), No. 1 Chinese Restaurant (509 E. Landis Ave.), Matias Deli and Bakery (511 E. Landis Ave.), El Rincon Del Sabor II (514 E. Landis Ave.), Taqueria La Tejana (511 E. Landis Ave.), Cilantro Mexican Restaurant (523 E. Landis Ave.), Panadera y Taqueria Puebla (547 E.
