Latest Business Openings Closures and Updates in Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Cherry Hill, NJ, is always changing, and a lot is happening right now.

New restaurants are opening, some favorite places are closing, and big projects are on the way, so there will be changes across town.

If you love trying new food, exploring the latest stores, or just staying informed about what’s going on, you’ll want to hear about the latest changes.

Aside from food, there are also major developments, like a huge sporting goods store planned for the Cherry Hill Mall lot, complete with an outdoor turf field.

At the same time, there’s some sad news: a few businesses, including a gym and a warehouse, are shutting down, affecting jobs and local services.

While exciting and challenging, these changes are shaping Cherry Hill in new ways.

If you want to know what’s opening, closing, and coming soon, this roundup has all the details.

  1. Santucci’s Pizza Has Arrived

Pizza lovers, this one is for you!

Santucci’s Original Square Pizza, famous for its square-shaped pies with sauce on top of the cheese, has officially opened at 100 Springdale Rd. in the Holly Ravine Plaza.

Santucci’s, which started in Philadelphia back in 1959, has become legendary for its unique pizza style.

The Cherry Hill location is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offers dine-in, takeout, and delivery.

Even better, there’s more to come!

Franchisees Steve Bombaro and John Dingler are working on opening another spot in Deptford, and you’ll also find Santucci’s pizza soon at The Taproom in Haddon Township.

  1. Tesoro Macaron Bakery Closing in Collingswood

There’s sad news for macaron fans.

Tesoro Macaron Bakery, known for its colorful and delicate French treats, will close its Collingswood location on December 24.

Owner Tabatha Griffith opened the Collingswood shop earlier this year but now focuses on the flagship location in Swedesboro.

The bakery will remain open on weekends until its final day, with special hours for Christmas pickups.

If you’re craving these sweet almond flour cookies, plan a trip to Swedesboro after December.

  1. Huge Sports Store with Turf Field Coming to Cherry Hill Mall

Big changes are in store at the Cherry Hill Mall.

A massive two-story sporting goods store with an outdoor turf field will replace the Cherry Hill One office building in the mall’s parking lot.

The new development will be 120,000 square feet and include a rock-climbing wall, batting cage simulator, and indoor recreation areas.

Outside, the turf field will cover 18,500 square feet, surrounded by a track.

It’ll be a place to test sports gear, host clinics, and even hold local events.

PREIT, the mall’s parent company, needs zoning approval since the building’s planned height of 58 feet exceeds the area’s 35-foot limit.

Construction will temporarily reduce parking spaces, but the final layout will add more spots than before.

  1. First Watch Brunch Spot Opens in Sicklerville

If you love breakfast and brunch, you’ll want to check out First Watch, now open at 625 Berlin-Cross Keys Rd. in Sicklerville.

The Florida-based chain serves up favorites like avocado toast, lemon ricotta pancakes, and the famous “million-dollar bacon” (with brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne, and maple syrup).

The restaurant, which seats over 180 people, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will rotate its menu seasonally.

Their first new menu items are set to roll out in early 2025.

  1. Bao Mama Brings Fresh Dumplings to Cherry Hill

Cherry Hill’s food scene just got more exciting with the opening of Bao Mama at 926 Haddonfield Rd., Unit D.

This new spot specializes in handmade bao buns, dumplings, and noodle dishes, all made fresh daily.

Owner Anna Lu comes from a family with decades of experience perfecting these dishes, so it only makes sense to check out Bao Mama if you’re a fan of Asian comfort food.

  1. Esporta Fitness Gym Closing for Good

If you’re a member of Esporta Fitness in Cherry Hill, it’s time to find a new gym.

The location at 2100 Route 38 is closing permanently on December 19.

Although memberships will transfer to other Esporta, LA Fitness, or City Sports Club locations, none of these gyms are in Cherry Hill.

The closest options are in Marlton and Mount Laurel, so it might be time to explore other fitness centers in town.

  1. Walmart Closing Another Warehouse in Swedesboro

Big job cuts are coming to South Jersey as Walmart plans to shut down the Sam’s Club fulfillment center in Swedesboro on March 7.

This closure will affect 113 employees.

Not to mention, it will be the second local Walmart warehouse to close this year.

Earlier, the company shut down its Pedricktown center and cut 271 jobs.

Walmart is shifting its focus to massive “next-generation” fulfillment centers, like the 1.5 million-square-foot facility recently opened in Greencastle, Pennsylvania.

For impacted employees, Walmart offers relocation packages to transfer to other centers, including $7,500 and moving expenses.

On the bright side, Walmart plans to open a new grocery distribution center in Pilesgrove by 2027, which will bring about 400 jobs to the area.

Cherry Hill is going through a lot of changes, and it’s exciting to see how the town is growing and improving.

New restaurants are bringing fresh flavors, and big projects are adding something different to the area.

At the same time, it’s hard to say goodbye to businesses that are closing, especially those that have been part of the community for a long time.

Cherry Hill is a town full of energy, and these changes show how it continues to be a great place to live, work, and enjoy.

As you explore new spots and see what’s next, remember that every change is part of what makes Cherry Hill such a special community.

Keep looking out for updates because there’s always more to come at Cherry Hill!
