My Vegan Valentine

The American Vegan Society (AVS) will host a Valentine’s Dinner at Carême’s in Mays Landing on Thursday February 15 at 6 p.m. Culinary students will prepare and present a meal under the guidance of chef-educators. These future masters of haute cuisine are learning to cook gourmet vegan.

Chef Carl Colucci is planning the menu—Za’atar spiced hummus with house-made pita chips; romaine with eggless caesar, croutons, crispy mushroom chips; eggplant meatballs with buckwheat noodles topped with gochujang, sesame seeds, and bok choy; shiitake ramen in Asian miso broth; and avocado chocolate pudding with coconut whipped cream.

Come early to check in and browse the welcome table of books and literature. Cost for dinner: $42 adults, $32 students and low-income, $60 supporter. Early registration is recommended for this popular event. Visit AmericanVegan.org or call 856-694-2887.

Carême’s is at The Academy of Culinary Arts, Atlantic Cape Community College.

AVS encourages people to explore the variety of vegan dining options for their pleasure and health, to reverse the rate of climate change, and for a more compassionate world. The American Vegan Center is at 17 N. 2nd Street in Old City Philadelphia, serving both visitors and the local community with information on all aspects of vegan living.
