Millville Public Schools Welcomes New Superintendent

Millville Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Matthew Mazzoni as the district’s new Superintendent of Schools, effective September 1, 2024. Following an extensive search and rigorous selection process in partnership with the New Jersey School Boards Association, Dr. Mazzoni was unanimously chosen by the Board of Education for his exceptional leadership skills, commitment to educational excellence, and strong vision for the future of the district.

Dr. Mazzoni brings to the role over 20 years of experience in education, beginning with his first role as a middle school special education teacher and progressing to leadership roles, including coordinator of a 21st Century Community Learning Center, Vice Principal, Principal, K-12 Supervisor, and Superintendent. Recently, he completed his second year as Assistant Superintendent in Millville. In that capacity, he led numerous successful initiatives, including the implementation of a new K-5 reading program, learning opportunities extending beyond the school day, Positive Behavior Supports in Schools initiative, and family literacy outreach events to name a few.

“We are thrilled to name Dr. Mazzoni to the role of Superintendent of Schools” said Kim Carty, President of the Board of Education. “He values the rich tradition of excellence and the strong sense of community in Millville. We are confident that under his leadership, Millville Public Schools will continue to thrive and reach new heights.”

In his new role, Mazzoni remains committed to building on the district’s rich traditions while spearheading new initiatives to ensure every student has access to a high-quality education. A primary goal under his leadership will be enhancing student achievement across all grade levels through targeted instructional strategies, comprehensive systems of support, and continuous professional development for staff.

“I am excited to build upon the successes in Millville to ensure an inclusive, supportive, and innovative learning environment for all students,” said Dr. Mazzoni. “I am committed to serving the students, families, and staff with dedication, transparency, and enthusiasm.”

Dr. Mazzoni earned a doctorate of educational leadership from Rowan University in 2017. He also earned post secondary degrees from Rowan University, Wilmington University, and Atlantic Cape Community College. Dr. Mazzoni holds New Jersey teaching, principal, and school administrator certifications.

Dr. Mazzoni continues to serve on a number of professional organizations. He is currently on the executive board of the New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA).

Previously, Dr. Mazzoni served on the NJASA committees for professional development and shared-services school districts. Furthermore, he was on the executive board of the New Jersey Interdistrict Public School Choice Association and the Atlantic County Superintendents Association. Lastly, Dr. Mazzoni was a past presenter at TECHSPO on the topic, Leveraging Data to Empower Educators: The Transformative Power of Progress Monitoring.

Dr. Mazzoni and his wife, Kate, and their four children, Josephine, Alexandria, Mattison, and Grace, reside in South Harrison, NJ.
