Learning and expanding our knowledge is very important and can also be exciting. This is particularly essential for our young folks as they mature and venture out, broadening their horizons. Millville Woman’s Club (MWC) is a supporter of this. Donna Pio and Barbara Westog are co-chairs of the Millville Woman’s Club (MWC) Education Committee and they collaborate with staff at Millville High School and Lakeside Middle School to select students to receive scholarships, Good Kid Awards, attend Girls Career Institute and participate at MWC meetings. So far this year, four young ladies, all seniors at Millville High School (MHS), have been invited to attend MWC meetings to share some of their accomplishments, interests, community activities, and goals.

Yashaira Marie Acevedo operates the teleprompter equipment at MHS to enhance the flow of “Millville in the Morning,” the school’s daily broadcast of announcements. She is secretary of the MHS Chapter of the National Honor Society, member of Student Council and Key Club and plays flag football. Yashaira is also in the Bolts Video Club and records varsity and junior varsity wrestling matches for their review. Her studies include accounting, English, anatomy, and sports and entertainment. She has received three academic varsity letters and been selected Student of the Month three times.
Mikayla Kuhns is the vice president of the MHS Chapter of the National Honor Society, a member of Leaders Club, Bolts Video Club, and was captain of the softball team for four years. She has received academic awards each year, varsity athletic letters, Woman’s Athletic Award and Highest Honors. Mikayla is involved with Food Closet and has been on mission trips to Kenya, Ireland, NY, NC, KY and TN (2022-25). Her studies are in science, but she also enjoys culinary arts. She plans to attend RCSJ and pursue a career in nursing.
Peyton Bartleson’s studies include English and Arts. She is in the Clay Club, Car Club, Marching Band/Colorguard and was in Jazz Band. She is also in girls tennis. Peyton plans to attend Rowan University or The College of New Jersey to pursue a career in speech pathology.
Layla Sidberry is a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club. She has received academic varsity letters, been selected English Student of the Month and has been involved in AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) throughout high school. Layla’s studies include Advanced History, Spanish, statistics, psychology, introduction to drawing, digital design, and painting. She plans to pursue a career as an interior designer.
MWC members admire these young ladies and wish them well as they pursue their careers.
