Millville Soccer Association – Fall 2019 Week 1

U11 Boys – The Millville Raptors started off their season with a 4-1 victory at home against the Voorhees Avengers on Sunday. Bobby Dixon led the way with his first hat trick of the season, scoring three times and assisting on another. Klint Coll added his own goal with an opportunistic play at the net and Jared Reed notched his first assist of the season with a perfectly placed corner. Matthew Lucas provided an assist with an excellent pass to set up one of Dixon’s goals. The entire team played a great game on both sides of the field making this a true team win!

U16 Girls – Millville Storm hosted the Highland Pulse for their season opener. The Millville Storm’s first goal came on a Corner Kick from Leah Alcorn to Brooklynn Donia who received the ball off her body to redirect the ball into the goal. Storm’s second tally came from Novalee Bybel with a drive up the middle passing several defenders for the shot. Defense player of the game goes to Alexis West. Keeper Rachel Goranson started in net for her first time and played a great game with multiple stopped shots.

U14 Boys – The Millville Maniacs opened their season with a 2-2 tie against the Deptford Raptors. The game was exciting, fun to watch and very evenly matched. Millville was up 2-1 at halftime, but the Raptors scored off a rebound from the crossbar to even the match in the final two minutes of the game. Terron Stevenson and Jesiah Cruz each had a tally mark for the Maniacs. John Abdill had an assist to help the Maniacs gain a halftime lead. Solid goalkeeping by Matthew Sooy and defense by Christian Mercardo, Luke Patterson, Merik Sykut, Aidan Whilden, and Travis Jenkins helped keep the score close. Gavin Miller, Lukas Harrington, Lorenzo Lewis, Gavin Hawes, Braydon Courtney, Joshua Johnson, Bryant Nelson, and Matthew Miller all contributed to a solid game. The Maniacs had many opportunities to score and played solid as a team.
