A local restaurateur is a semifinalist for Best Chef in the James Beard Awards® presented by Capital One. Melissa McGrath, Sweet Amalia Market and Kitchen in Newfield, was nominated along with 19 others in the Mid-Atlantic region (DC, DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA). Final nominees will be announced on March 29, and winners will be celebrated at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony on June 5 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. The 2023 semifinalists are recognized across 23 specialties.
Sweet Amalia Market and Kitchen, 994 Harding Highway in Newfield, is closed for the season and will reopen in March.
