Local Filmmaker Releases Thriller, Film is Selected by Six Film Fests

Local filmmaker Adam Clark has publicly released The Trail, a new short thriller film. The Trail is a celebration of nature and the dark mysteries it holds—perfect to watch, even post-Halloween.

“I asked myself ‘what scary thing could happen in broad daylight?’ ” says Clark, writer and director of The Trail. “From there, I further shaped the story by using the unique geography of a local hiking area.”

The film’s synopsis is “Lost in the woods, a woman encounters a terrified stranger.” The Trail follows the unnamed lead character’s disorienting search for answers.

The short film was shot in Millville in October of 2021. Most members of the cast and crew are local to the region. Lead actress Cayleigh Capaldi (Law & Order: Organized Crime and Mrs. Fletcher) traveled from New York City for her role.

The Trail was selected by six film festivals—one in New Jersey, three in Pennsylvania, one in North Carolina, and one in California. Judges described the film as “hypnotic” and “atmospheric.”

Clark is a filmmaker and lifelong resident of Cumberland County. He studied radio, TV, and film at Rowan University. He works freelance on film sets in the greater Philadelphia area.

The Trail is available for streaming on YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, and TikTok. For more information on The Trail, visit the official website: TheTrailShortFilm.com
